A little about Doolin Acres Kennel
and our love of dogs.

We LOVE dogs! Doolin Acres Kennel held it's Grand Opening Event the end of June 2011. In 2012 the kennel closed to make time to prepare for the arrival of our son and to allow Kristin (my wife) and I (John) time to enjoy and adjust to our new role as parents. I re-opened Doolin Acres Kennel in June 2014. As Owner & Caretaker I hope to offer you and your dog the boarding kennel experience that we desire for ourselves and our own dogs. This means that Doolin Acres Kennel does a lot of things differently than other dog boarding kennels in our surrounding areas of Beloit, Janesville and Monroe, Wisconsin. I'm confident that the more you learn about Doolin Acres Kennel the easier your choice will be.


John (owner & caretaker) grew up in Beloit, WI and always had a dog as a family pet growing up. He began training dogs at the age of 10 when he volunteered for "Wags" and was a Service Dog Puppy Raiser. Through this experience he gained an adoration of Golden Retrievers. As an adult John chose to contribute to the improvement of the breed and became a hobby breeder of Golden Retrievers. He has competed with his Golden Retrievers in Conformation, Rally, Agility, Obedience and Dock Diving over the years. His favorite activity is hunting pheasants each fall with our Golden Retriever, Cali. John also volunteered as a Puppy Raiser for a Guide Dog Association where he cared for Labrador Retrievers in his home while providing them with the obedience and socialization training required. It was through his involvement in this organization that he met another volunteer Puppy Raiser, Kristin his wife. Together Kristin and John have 3 dogs and a son.


The Canine Overseers

Cali, now the oldest Golden Retriever of the group arrived in late 2014. Attitude to spare she keeps us all on our toes. She immediately won over our older girls and now as the oldest she is a wonderful role-model for the young ones. As the do it all girl of the group we have so much fun with her! She is great with kids, loves the field work or anything else we do.

Ca-Me-La and Cannoli are sisters and Cali daughters. They were born December 2017 and are really fantastic puppies. We are busy socializing and training currently. Two puppies......what were we thinking, Ha! Ha!
